book cover art is a trip

I just finished my nth Philip K. Dick book, The Penultimate Truth, and, like with an occasional book of his here and there, didn't really get it. A few Wikipedia clicks later, I come across this site

I've been collecting the Vintage printings of his works, as I really like the consistency of the typeface they use for his name. But after seeing some of the earlier book covers, I kind of wish I was snooping around antique book stores instead of Amazon.com

The Vintage ones always kind of look like this:


but the earlier prints are wicked:




what's great about this one is that there really isn't much of a woman character in the book, but whatevs, i'd totes be checking it out:
